Adding more  content to your website or web pages. Just like I am doing now with this page, adding more content  will increase  potitenal for being scanned and recognized by other websites and users which in turn will bring more visitors seeing the other articles or content on your website which will create stickiness.  Web editors who have been hearing more and more thru some of the SEO back channels and  articles on how “the emphasis on content now is out weighing the keyword demographics”. With the efficiency of computers and the speed of the network we are crunching the numbers by 10 to 100 fold so out ability to scan more information gives us the opportunty to not just rely on key words to locate our documents by matter of importance but putting the whole document in virtual search mode the whole document is can be retrieved or reviews in a matter of moments.

Here are a couple of fun suggestions for adding content. make sure that you have more of your articles back linked to major document, giving some small subliminal  suggestions on where to go next. example, if you are writing an article about websites for business then also put some links to other documents that might help to reinforce you  article. Create links

I started scanning some of the list and saw quite a wide variety of music. One of the entries under “Electronica” was the group Tangerine Dream and all of a sudden I am taken back to one of my most memorable moments which was associated with music and I am in my very first apartment with about 8 of my friends and we are listening to 3 AM at the Border of the Marsh from Okefenokee we had a single candle going and we just sat back and listened to this side of the album. So I am going to take a hint from the this website and start to list all the music that I have listened to and give some reference and a position in the list of music you can’t live without.

Be careful when clicking on the links in an email, if you get a suspicious email don’t click on any link or patches in the email.

The first items you will need of course is your UserID and Password to access your website. Once you have recieved those items you can go to the administrator login page and login. Most of the time it will be a URL or web address something like this “http://www.tcswebhost.com/wp-admin”. In the example I used one of my websites, you would need to substitute the underlined section with your website address. You should be taken to a web page that asks for your Username and Password. If you have forgotten it you can click on “lost your password?” and enter your email address where a link will be emailed to you to reset the password”.

Entering your Username and Password you will have a administrator page in front of you this is backside of your website, this page controls what everyone sees when they go to your website. Take a look at the different sections on the lefthand side of the admin page you will see a vertical list of options, if you click on any of these options they will open a page on the right side to give more detail to the option on the left. To start click on the “dashboard” at the very top this will put you in the default admin page. right below on the left side there is a section labled “Posts”. This section is where you will find the options that we are focusing on in this article.

Click on “Add New” under the post header in the left column of options. The right portion of the page opens you will see a section for the title and then a section for the body below. Type something in the title bar, the name to your article or anything else. You need to type something in the title bar so the autoupdate function can save your draft automatically in case of timeing out or if you have any problems with your computer. Once you get your title entered then start typing in the bottom section normally the page will open up in the “visual mode” that is the mode where you just type and it will appear just as you typed it. You might have another tab up on the right hand side of the body section showing HTML next the the VISUAL tab. make sure that you have it in VISUAL mode for this work in progress. there is a horizontal line of objects right above the body section these control the text that you are going to type. If you hover over each item then you will see the name of the item. you can apply these features to the text or content that you have typed in the body section. play around with it and check some of the features out. The features are pretty self explanitory so play around with them and use what you like. Once you have typed or posted some information in the body you will notice the back up system has auto-saved your content so you won’t lose it.

This last section is how to make the information you just created available to the website. Once you have typed something in the body. look over to the farthest right column you will see a heading “Publish” here is where you can save a draft or publish the document or article you just created. you also have an option to delet by clicking on the “move to trash” option. Click on the “Publish” button on the bottome of the publish section, this will publish the page…your done you post has been created and published on the website. See not so hard. If you want to go back and edit now or maybe later, you can edit this page at any time. Go back to the farthest left column and click on posts. you should see your article listed in the middle section of the page you will have options as hover over the name of the article. once you have changed the page click on publish and the new settings have been saved. now you done.

Let your family and friends know that you do not share your private email address. Make sure that your email address is hard to guess, the easier to remember or easier to guess the easier it will be for someone to guess also. Change you email address often and if you have been comprimised then change it even sooner after you have cleared your computer of keyloggers and inside proxy tools.

Keep your anti-virus application or software active and check for updates, most anti-virus software will automatically check for updates make sure that it is scheduled. Your connection to the internet is monitored by this
application and stops any viruses or infected downloads including with some applications emails. Some viruses will create a small program on your computer and send out emails or information about your computer firewalls that are included in the anti-virus software need to be turned on to stop both unauthorized incoming and outgoing information.

Get an additional email account to give out to anyone that you don’t know personally. Keep your personal email address away from the internet accounts where you get solititations from the internet or businesses that you deal with. It helps to sort out the emails and who sent them some emails are phoney and they might have a valid email address showing but the link might be different from whats actually showing. Do not put your email address on any websites also other people who are able ot access the website and run a spider to get all the email addresses and private information. Do not reply to email that aren’t requested by you or your friends.

Avoid posting your personal email address or any account information regarding your private email account. Companies use special programs to scan chat and social networks to gleem email addresses and telephone numbers from the content including chats and social networks like twitter myspace and facebook. If you need to leave an address either create a new email address or create an email address that someone has to manually write down rather than scanning like “name at myaddress”. also you could swap out characters that resemble with numbers so that someone would again have to read rather than cut and paste.

check for suspicious email addresses or if any of the information on the email header looks weird then delete the message. and do not open. If you have a email program like outlook or outlook express where you can turn on the preview option on or off when messages come in, turn the preview option off. if you leave it on its just like opening the email as they come in and will trigger any scripts or executables.

Consumer Advice: How to Avoid Phishing Scams

The number and sophistication of phishing scams sent out to consumers is continuing to increase dramatically. While online banking and e-commerce is very safe, as a general rule you should be careful about giving out your personal financial information over the Internet. The Anti-Phishing Working Group has compiled a list of recommendations below that you can use to avoid becoming a victim of these scams.

Be suspicious of any email with urgent requests for personal financial information
unless the email is digitally signed, you can’t be sure it wasn’t forged or ‘spoofed’
phishers typically include upsetting or exciting (but false) statements in their emails to get people to react immediately
they typically ask for information such as usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, social security numbers, date of birth, etc.
phisher emails are typically NOT personalized, but they can be. Valid messages from your bank or e-commerce company generally are personalized, but always call to check if you are unsure
Don’t use the links in an email, instant message, or chat to get to any web page if you suspect the message might not be authentic or you don’t know the sender or user’s handle
instead, call the company on the telephone, or log onto the website directly by typing in the Web adress in your browser
Avoid filling out forms in email messages that ask for personal financial information
you should only communicate information such as credit card numbers or account information via a secure website or the telephone
Always ensure that you’re using a secure website when submitting credit card or other sensitive information via your Web browser
Phishers are now able to ‘spoof,’ or forge BOTH the “https://” that you normally see when you’re on a secure Web server AND a legitimate-looking address. You may even see both in the link of a scam email. Again, make it a habit to enter the address of any banking, shopping, auction, or financial transaction website yourself and not depend on displayed links.
Phishers may also forge the yellow lock you would normally see near the bottom of your screen on a secure site. The lock has usually been considered as another indicator that you are on a ‘safe’ site. The lock, when double-clicked, displays the security certificate for the site. If you get any warnings displayed that the address of the site you have displayed does NOT match the certificate, do not continue.
Remember not all scam sites will try to show the “https://” and/or the security lock. Get in the habit of looking at the address line, too. Were you directed to PayPal? Does the address line display something different like “http://www.gotyouscammed.com/paypal/login.htm?” Be aware of where you are going.
Consider installing a Web browser tool bar to help protect you from known fraudulent websites. These toolbars match where you are going with lists of known phisher Web sites and will alert you.

Regularly log into your online accounts
don’t leave it for as long as a month before you check each account
Regularly check your bank, credit and debit card satements to ensure that all transactions are legitimate
if anything is suspicious or you don’t recognize the transaction, contact your bank and all card issuers
Ensure that your browser is up to date and security patches applied
Always report “phishing” or “spoofed” e-mails to the following groups:
use the form on this page or forward the email to reportphishing@antiphishing.org
forward the email to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov
forward the email to the “abuse” email address at the company that is being spoofed (e.g. “spoof@ebay.com”)
when forwarding spoofed messages, always include the entire original email with its original header information intact
notify The Internet Crime Complaint Center of the FBI by filing a complaint on their website: www.ic3.gov/

I was going to give a BIG long dissertation about why images will build a stronger draw to your web page and increase the stickiness keeping visitors coming back but I am not going to bore you I included it down below if your interested in reading. When you get a chance take a look at some of the web pages that the commercial or big websites and how much image space is included on a single page and then realize that the large websites have hundreds of pages that have images included.

I have been monitoring some of the pages on this site www.tcswebhost.com and i have been comparing the number of pages and how long the visitor stays on the page. the pages with images have more visits and the time spent on the page is longer. The values are slight but by no image vs image there is a different. I am not done comparing yet but I will get into more detail later.

Consider what photo you would like to see when your considering the content of the page or site that your working on. When a person visits your site they will read the information which will inform or make aware but does that information satisfy their curiosity or did it cover the subject completely? The first thing that pops in to my mind is the age old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” and it still carries the same weight today. If someone is visiting your site then scans your content but then just breezes the information their attention is held longer if you have a picture or image included to help create more of an impression.

They are doing what few are doing anymore offering free photos for a website. I have looked at a couple of the images and they are great large which is good for scaling and their is a variety of subjects.

Websites are going through a cultural change, when you open a web page today it will be different tomorrow. Web content is going through the same changes as books, newspapers and any other media that informs the masses.
Do you remember when the Internet was just starting out? There were no standards no governing agencies or groups that controlled the delivery or the layout of the content. The group of people that were reading web pages in the beginning and were very exclusive group. This group was easy to please and was able to comprehend the information in its infancy. As the with any culture who is dependent on learning and educating themselves the demographics of who is reading any of the information that was passed through the internet now is looking for a better standard or a more concise way of getting the information this transformation was pretty similar to what has happened to the newspapers.

I am seeing people that are still using IE6 when they start browsing the Internet. They are calling with issues about slow speeds or non responsive websites. People please upgrade your browsers it won’t hurt I promise you… Seriously website content is going to be limited to browsers 7+ with Internet Explorer and 3+ with firefox. Webservers are going to sense your browser redirect to different sites rather than the primary site. its really easy just go to your browsers home page:

Do you VoIP? I have been messing around with Voice over Internet Protocol for the last 7 years and have used quite a few of the services over that time. I am using a VoIP service right now with my Comcast telephone service. I can only remember two times that the phone services have dropped over a 5 year period. I can’t say the same with the other companies that I have worked with. So that brings me back up today.

I am working on a small VoIP network and just setting up I have been running in to this issue where I will make an outbound call which goes dials out and I am able to talk for 23 seconds and then drops out. Inbound calls there is no problem. I started tracing and found out that the problem was originating with my network. I have a Grandstream ht-286 sip device from one of my previous accounts which I configured it for my sip server and phone number that is where the problem first occurred. I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t the sip device so I downloaded a copy of X-Lite SIP VoIP Softphone 3.0 from www.tucows.com and I was getting the same error. So I started looking at the router and assigned the DMZ to the ip address that was given to the sip device and and it worked so I disabled the NAT server and it still worked. I ended up turning on the NAT server firewall to secure the network again and configured the port, it worked.
